The Sandbar Studio's Story
How The Sandbar Studio Started
The Sandbar Studio began as a senior thesis project during my final year of college. Knowing I would be moving to Hawaiʻi after graduation, I wanted to use my art as a way to immerse myself in and educate myself about the islands, their culture, and the stories that make Hawaiʻi so special.
What started as a school project quickly became something much bigger. Along the way, I found an incredible community of artists, makers, and art lovers who encouraged me to keep creating and saw something special in my work. People began asking to put my art on their walls, and The Sandbar Studio slowly grew from a thesis into a real little art business.
Today, The Sandbar Studio is my way of celebrating the things I love about island life while continuing to learn about and respectfully share the culture around me. My work is bold, retro, whimsical, and full of color, inspired by Hawaiʻi, the ocean, and those little moments of slowness and joy that make island life so beautiful.
At its heart, The Sandbar Studio is about making art that feels like a little piece of sunshine; something that brings you joy wherever you are.
